The Mediterranean Grandma Sniff Test 👵🏻🫒

🫒 Would your olive oil pass the Mediterranean Grandma Sniff Test?

💚 5 Things to Look For When Buying the Highest Quality Olive Oil 💚

Not all olive oil is created equal. Most of what’s on shelves is old, oxidized, or stored in packaging that harms the oil (and you). Here’s what actually matters👇🏽

1️⃣ Dark Glass or Metal Only

Protects your oil from light + heat. Plastic? A no — fats can absorb chemicals from plastic and oxidize faster. Mediterranean grandmas won’t touch it.

2️⃣ Organic if possible

Olives are a heavily sprayed crop. Organic means fewer pesticides, higher quality farming, and usually a cleaner, fresher oil.

3️⃣ Extra Virgin Always

Always. Skip “light,” “pure,” or “refined.” EVOO is the only grade with real flavor, nutrients, and polyphenols. Also, extra virgin already guarantees that it’s cold-pressed, by law!

4️⃣ Single-Sourced or Estate-Grown

No mystery blends. Single-region or estate-grown oils are traceable, fresher, and far less likely to be adulterated.

5️⃣ Look for the Harvest Date

Not a best-by date. Harvest date = freshness. You want olives harvested within the last 12 months.
